พระธาตุเมืองลำพูน (1)

พระธาตุหริภุญไชญ ถือกันว่าเป็นพระเจดีย์สำหรับคนเกิดปีระกา พระเจดีย์บุทองเหลืองอร่าม เพิ่งซ่อมบุใหม่ได้สัก ๒ ปีนี้เอง ปกติทางเหนือเขาเรียกทองเหลืองว่าทองจังโก กรณีของพระธาตุนี้อาจจะเป็นการหุ้มทองคำจริงก็ไม่รู้นะ ตัวพระธาตุอยู่หลังพระอุโบสถ

ที่น่าสนใจก็คือ หอคำ หรือหอไตร ที่สวยงาม อยู่ข้างพระอุโบสถ ทางด้านขวา

วัดนี้อยู่ในเกาะเมือง ซึ่งตัวเมืองลำพูนนี้ผมคำนวณดูแล้วปีนี้มีอายุได้ ๑๓๕๓ ปีแล้ว (พระนางจามเทวี สร้างเมือง พ.ศ.​๑๒๐๓ หรือ จ.ศ. ๒๒)

Lamphun (formerly Haripunchai Kingdom, which is 1353 years old, the city was built in AD 660 by Queen Jamdevi, based on my calculation, is among the oldest cities in Thailand. The Haripunchai Pagoda of Lamphun, among a few ones where the Buddha's relics were interred, is considered the sacred place for people who were born in the years of the roosters. (I don't know why.) The Pagoda behind the main Uposoth (ordination hall) has been re-plated with gold (I am not sure if it is gold or brass) around 2 years ago so it is shinning beautifully now. Gold-plating the pagodas is a tradition found in northern Thai's Buddhist temples.
A scripture hall (library), as seen painted red on the lower walls, is quite uniquely look.
