Highway no. 1 in northern Thailand

I drive round-trip between Bangkok and Lamphun and Chiang Mai on a monthly basis, mostly using highway no. 1. These pictures were taken around Lampang on the return trip back to Bangkok last week by my wife, . It is a dry season now and leaves of most trees are brown or brownish green. One plus thing for this dry season is that we see a lot of yellow or bright orange color flowers on a lot of trees planted along the road side. We saw a lot of burning bush fires along the road as well as nearby forest fires. I enjoy driving quietly, meditating along the way.

Condition of the road is quite fine, except around Kamphaengphet, where there are lots of damaged surface and repair work going on. I wished higher politicians in Bangkok used highways regularly like us normal people do, instead of just flying around, so they realize how bad some sections of the highway are badly in need of repair.
